Draft Explosives Bill will be tabled for discussion in the winter session of the parliament.
The use of explosives has increased with rapid development activities such as mining and road construction taking place in the country. To avoid accidents involving explosives- the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs and other stakeholders are looking at how best to handle and store explosives.

This is in continuation to the Ministry’s announcement on the position vacancies of four Dzongrabs, one Deputy Chief Planning Officer (DCPO) and one Vice Principal for appointment with effect from 1 July 2009.Vacancies for Senior Officials. Hon’ble Nangsi Lyonpo’s visit to Bumthang
The Annual Cultural Officers’ Workshop held in Bumthang was graced by Hon’ble Nangsi Lyonpo as the Chief Guest on 8th June 2009. Apart from stressing on the challenges of preserving and importance of culture, Hon’ble Nangsi Lyonpo said that the roles and responsibilities of Cultural Officer have changed over time and becoming heavier by the day. Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction.
Senator Loren Legarda of the Philippines who is the designated Regional Champion for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation for Asia and Pacific Region and a delegation from the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction was on a 6 day visit to Bhutan. During her stay she called on the Prime Minister, the Minister, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs and other relevant stakeholders to discuss on Disaster Risk Reduction and also Gross National Happiness.

Ministers’ visit to Gasa
The Gasa Dzongkhag will soon work on the construction and development of infra-structure at Gasa Tshachu. The controversy over the already proposed site for infrastructure development was resolved during the recent visit of three Ministers; the Minister for Economic Affairs, Home Minister and Agriculture Minister. During the meeting held with the officials from Jigme Dorji National Park, Dzongkhag Administration and Community Leaders, it was expressed that the government felt the need for further development of Tshachu in view of the increasing number of people visiting Tshachu from across the country.
